About 50,000 spectators will be on hand to watch the seventh Match Against Poverty in Lisbon on January 25 in with the "Friends of Ronaldo and Zidane " plays against "Benfica All Stars team . Sixty international football players hailing from teams across the world will competein the two star-studded teams.
For the past seven years, UNDPs Match Against Poverty has raised funds for global efforts to reduce poverty while at the same time shining a much needed spotlight on those efforts. In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti recently, the organizers and players have pledged that all proceeds from this years game will go toward relief and reconstruction efforts in Haiti.
